About ETA

Established in 1997, with the involvement of 36 non-governmental organisations, registered by the Municipal Court of Budapest, under No. 7732.
Label: : prominently public benefit organisation

Current membership: 71 non-governmental organisations (data from 1 January 2010);
Number of the mentally handicapped people cared for, educated and employed under the "umbrella" of the Association: 7000 people;
Aim and responsibility of the Association: providing practical assistance

  • by transmitting professional and experience-based information derived from domestic and EU sources,
  • by enhancing grant related advisory activities and the ability to write applications, via trainings,
  • by operating a grant monitoring service,
  • by constantly implementing independent association programmes inspiring social integration,
  • by raising the awareness of politicians with the relevant area of expertise serving in state administration about the importance of non-governmental organisations committed to taking on social tasks,
  • by financial and tax-related advising,
  • through training and employment programmes,
  • by publishing and distributing the independent specialised journal 'ÉTA Hírlevél' (ETA Newsletter),
  • through fine arts camps.

The Association does not receive any normative and/or other benefits from the state. The financial basis of its operations is constituted by the membership fees of member organisations, revenues derived from winning grant applications and support from sponsors, which, in turn, constrain the scope of providing aid.

A network of sponsors professing mutual interests and values, and evolving on contractual foundations is the precondition for non-governmental organisations predominantly meeting needs in the general interest and those taken care of by them to thrive along the lines of purpose driven trainings and value-setting employment programmes.

In response to requests of the policy makers of market economy and of the historical churches motivated by helpful intent, the Association will send detailed information and will offer a chance for personal communication. See at Aktualitások (current issues) for more detail.
